This file now includes both patched LazyBan120 and LazyBan130, along with a few minor changes in my instructions.
On computers with dual core processors Red Faction has trouble running properly because the game was designed for a system with one processor core. This fix includes a self extracting dual-core patch that updates RF.exe as well as LazyBan v1.30, the Spectator Mod and the Hive Mod to run using only core 0. Also included are the dual-core compatible copies of the required exe files if you prefer to copy them yourself into your RedFaction directory; as well as detailed instructions, and a copy of the ImageCfg affinity masking tool so that you can update your exe files yourself. This is particularly useful if you want to set your game to run on core 1, or if you want to make other exe files for other mods dual-core compatible.

This driver has been tested by me to make a Voodoo 3 card work with Red Faction. I went so far as to replace my Voodoo card because I couldn't get it to work.. however - YOU CAN avoid this! Just use this driver and all of your texture problems will be over. (See my original post about the issue here. This is a discontinued card from an out-of-business company, so a good driver is hard to find. This is it folks. WIN2K users: After you extract the file be absolutely sure to read the read me in the win2k folder that is created. |

RF Patch Switcher.

This little program will allow you to switch between RF 1.0, RF1.20 patch and RF1.30 patch. You can witch back and forth as many times as you like. When you want to play on a server running the RF1.2 patch, simply select "RF1.2" If you want to play on a server running the RF 1.30 patch then select "RF1.30". "No-cd" cracks are not required.

PLEASE NOTE!

This program does not install the full RF1.20 patch.
It only installs the patched RF.exe. The full RF1.20 patch
makes changes to other files besides the RF.exe.If you are
running an original unpatched Red Faction then please run
the Official RF120 N_A patch first.

This patch will upgrade RFDSSA to version 1.2.
This patch has numerous little fixes some of which are:
* The Kick and Ban option now works correctly in the RFASU vote utility.
* Corrected a fault which didn't allow the running of a "TeamDM" server.
* Added "Cancel" buttons to the "Check Master Server" forms. So now if the "Master Server" (eg rf.thqmultiplay.net) is off the air you can stop RFDSSA searching for it without closing the program.
* Most other fixes are to do with code arrangement and default implementations. |

Mit diesem patch kannst du deine deutsche RF version in die englische patchen.
1. etwas blut spritzt wenn man die Gegner trifft
2. die Leichen bleiben lange liegen (bis ein limit von leichen erreicht ist)
2. im RED kann man nun auch die decal texturen sehen "Signs - ..."
3. mods die veränderte strings also Waffenamen, Menütexte.. enthalten sind jetzt sichtbar
4. levels haben englische Namen

This patch will upgrade any version of RF ServerAssist 3 to version 3.40.
This latest patch fixes a discrepency in the RFASU vote utility. Previously if you selected a Players name in the listbox, it wouldn't remain highlighted. Therefore, the manual "Kick" and "Ban" feature wouldn't work correctly. This has now been remedied.
PLEASE NOTE!

The RFASU utility is only available to users of Windows 2000 or Windows XP. It will not run on Windows 98 or Windows ME..

Some mappers adding blood on walls to tell people there is a secret. But you can't see it in the german version without that file.

This version has had the "Green Team" and RF-Anti-Crash fix applied to both patches. This makes it easy for the people running dedicated servers.
If you already have a "patched" rf.exe and you run a PREVIOUS version of RF PatchSwitcher then it will overwrite your patched file with an older copy.
So if you do run a dedicated server and you do swap from 1.2 to 1.3 even occassionally it is wise to download this new version.

There are a couple of bugs in Red Faction that make it easy to crash a server. This patch will fix both of those bugs, so the server can't be crashed by "unscrupulous" people anymore. It is also recommended that you patch the game with this other patch(unofficial):

We've discovered a bug in Red that stop you from building pack files for user made levels. It only happens if you have a particle emitter in your level that uses the default particle emitter texture (Rck_DefaultP.tga). It's really ease to get around. Simply put this texture (make "this texture" a link to the attached targa) into your ".."RedFactionuser_mapstextures" directory and you will be all set. |

Patch the North American version of Red Faction to include 1.20
This patch upgrades your game to the last version of Red Faction where you will find most players at. This patch fixes many of the glitches that allowed many people to cheat in the game. It doesn't fix all of them but it was a start. Too bad for us. It was an end. We can only hope that THQ might someday make another patch like SubZ did with lazyban 130. |
