hey guys i was wondering how to hide brushes seen in windows
Ive seen it done in other map's but i don't know how to fix it... Help

i know Cyrus did it Dr 5. when you look out the windows in the long first hallway, you should see that Round room, but you cant

You may be on to something there. I completely forgot that the game stops rendering things beyond two portals. Details, movers, and maybe objects will always be shown, though.

Yea, it's to do with portals, there's no way to be 100% sure you can prevent it unless the rooms are in different parts of the map however.
Your map sucks if it's not portalled properly anyway, go do that

because i only learned what portals did exactly when i watched your video on portals a few months ago, so i still got to Portal the sucker out
so how do you guys suggest i go about portal'ing my map?

Just make sure you can never see through two portals at the same time, unless you want the sky to show. Other than that it's just keeping the face count in nearby rooms somewhat the same so there aren't any bits of jarring slowdown.

All I can really say is don't use air brushes for portals unless you absolutely have to... which you shouldn't.

what?....... you mean im supposed to use solids? should they be bigger than the hallway its self? like 3.00 high 3.00 wide 0.01 depth? like in goobers video on portals? ohhhhhhh
well all the portals in my map are air brushes soo should i change that?

The best type of brush to use for a portal is a solid face, slightly larger than where it's placed. Using air brushes is a bad idea because it can (but usually won't) cause big problems.

Not true, use as many portals as you like so long as detail brushes and movers are used sparingly it's not an issue. Look at my newer maps; Lava Control 5 and Pipe Dream and the soon to be released Anubis. All of those maps have a ridiculous amount of portals, and often you can see through 6-7 at once, and they perform great.
Just stay away from air portals and always use solid faces. If they cause holes, move them around until they don't. Always test in-game and if you notice skybox-showing bugs, delete some portals that are causing them.

I've had problems in the past with seeing through multiple portals at once. Maybe I wasn't clear enough; what I meant was to avoid being able to see a portal by looking through another portal. Maybe it's just air brushes that do this, but it causes things to not be rendered showing the sky where solid brushes should be.

That never occurs for me unless I'm using air portals, detail brushes or movers with "Is Door" ticked. Detail brushes are BAD in any event so should be avoided like the plague, air portals are BAD in any event and should be avoided all the same and well movers are kind of unavoidable, but use them sparingly
